What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is about focusing your full attention on the present moment, without being distracted by unwanted thoughts and emotions. Instead of reacting impulsively, you respond more skillfully and with awareness.

Research indicates that Mindfulness alters the areas of activity in your brain which has a profound impact on how you handle stress and manage energy levels. Done daily, it changes the chemistry in your brain in as little as eight weeks, scientists at Harvard Medical School have found. It is the mental equivalent of going to the gym: you train your mind to be more fit when challenges come your way.

Through Mindfulness training you can enhance your well being and happiness, become less stressed, develop resiliency and experience a greater sense of control over your life. Mindfulness can be integrated into coaching and therapy or taken as a standalone MBSR / MBCT training.

Mindfulness is a philosophy and set of techniques used extensively in working with mental and physical illness.  Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy is now a treatment of choice in the NHS NICE Guidelines and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction is being used by professionals and organisations as an effective personal development pathway.  Research has shown mindfulness to be highly effective in managing stress, physical & emotional pain, improving immune system functioning, developing self awareness, relational & communication skills and promoting well-being and resilience.

Mindfulness is about being with your experience in the present moment as it unfolds and relating to that experience constructively’

Mindfulness as a resource for personal & professional transformation

Our approach focuses on helping participants develop and access a range of positive qualities that over time transform personal and professional functioning.  Our attendees consistently report how mindfulness is a resource that enhances their physical, mental and emotional functioning:

  • Increase ability to focus attention and stay in the present moment
  • Access positive emotions and manage negative emotions
  • Cultivate enhanced energy states and creativity
  • Create a restorative space where we can find peace and re-charge
  • Increase self-awareness
  • Gain a wider perspective, allowing us to see more choices and make better decisions
  • Respond rather than react to emotions and situations
  • Improve relationships and awareness of interpersonal dynamics
  • Take charge of well-being and health
  • Resilience: develop greater capacity to manage stress and difficulties
  • Feel more connected and fulfilled
  • Develop self-compassion

Providing a different development experience

We teach a practical set of straightforward tools and techniques that anyone can learn.  Simple yet powerful practices based on mindful awareness – underpinned by the latest psychological and neuroscientific research.  The practices we teach connect deeply with attendees on a range of levels to facilitate significant sustainable behavioural and attitudinal change.  Also ‘re-wiring the brain’: neuroscientific research show that mindfulness actually changes brain structure and improves immune system functioning in just 8 weeks.  Our courses are based on a hybrid of the  Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) trainings.  We create a supportive and experimental space to facilitate personal experiences from which deeper self awareness and learning can emerge.  We are psychologists as well as trained mindfulness teachers and have been practicing meditators for over 15 years.
